IRG addresses an opportunity in the renewable energy market that neither traditional private equity nor venture capital investors currently address. Renewable energy financings require a strong understanding of energy business operations that many financial firms do not possess. Because of its unique structure and management team, IRG has the necessary skills to successfully evaluate, assess and operate renewable energy assets in a cost effective manner. In addition to technical reviews, engineering and operations our teams have expertise in dealing with renewable energy credits/incentive trading, project equity evaluations, senior and subordinated debt structures, regulatory compliance, fuel supply and power purchase agreements. Investment opportunities targeted by IRG include:
- Acquisition of existing projects with strong fundamentals which are undervalued due to market conditions, or lack of capital, poor management expertise, owners pressured to sell, under capitalized operations or a need for greater spending on technology, marketing or a combination of one or more of the foregoing factors
- Select development and redevelopment opportunities especially where synergy on a portfolio of assets can be achieved (i.e.: common engineering, operations, consolidated sales efforts etc.)
- Acquisition of project equity securities, including mezzanine and bridge loans, on non-performing projects where strategic value can be gained
- Assets with time sensitive disposition requirements
- Operating companies constrained by management inefficiencies or lack of liquidity
- Corporate divestitures
- Where trading/originating renewable incentives or tax credits/subsidies could create incremental value to partners
IRG focuses on high yielding opportunities in North America and internationally which require the expertise of its management team to realize attractive returns. IRG believes that its unique skill sets will enable it to achieve better operating and financial results than its competitors.
